Prototype 45

Prototype 45:
Because with prototype 44 there where problems with fillings that didn't stay in place an other method of sewing it on is used. This 'final' prototype for testing stayed with the client afterward to test it some more on her own.

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: it moves less then prototype 43
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: the filling still becomes thinner every time it is used. You can see on the film that when feline moves around the velcro strip on the side loosen up a bit
Negative unexpected:

Prototype 44

Prototype 44:
The combination of prototype 43 is again used here with the difference that the filling on top of the envelope(the part that doesn't touch the ground) is from prototype 12

Elements of experience:
Positive expected:
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: filling becomes thinner every time it is used
Negative unexpected: there is a movement of the filling

Prototype 26 and 27

Prototype 26: testing prototype 10
Elements of experience:
Positive expected:
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected:
Negative unexpected: band still slips down between the knee

Prototype 27: testing prototype 26 with a cut in so it doesn't slip between the knee

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: The problem of 26 is helped by cutting a half circle in it
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected:

Prototype 24 and 25

Prototype 24: testing prototype 23 with 17

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: softer
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected:
Negative unexpected: weird feeling, when moving the knee touches the ground

Prototype 25: testing prototype 24 in combination with 12

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: the problem with your knee touches the ground is solved
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected:
Negative unexpected:

Prototype 20 and 21

Prototype 20: testing prototype 9 in combination with prototype 14

Elements of experience:
Positive expected:
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: first strip still goes down to the popliteal, too hard
Negative unexpected:

Prototype 21: testing prototype 9 in combination with 15

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: better (softer) than prototype 20
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected:
Negative unexpected:

Prototype 18 and prototype 19

Prototype 18: test prototype 8

Elements of experience:
Positive expected:
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: a bit to hard, not comfortable
Negative unexpected: silicone doesn't stay in place

Prototype 19: test prototype 8 with some changes

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: is softer than prototype 18
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: the shell is to small
Negative unexpected:

Prototype 14

Prototype 14:
This one is the combination of prototypes 12 and 13, so it has it soft qualities for more comfort and a harder shell so that hard objects are difficult to feel through it.

Elements of experience:
Positive expected:
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected:
Negative unexpected: a bit to hard

prototype 12:
The next number of prototypes are the ones that concern the filling of the previous prototypes 9,10 and 11.

This filling is made from layering fabric ant stitching it down in a square pattern.
Elements of experience:
Positive expected: the stitching make it less thick
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: you can still feel hard object through it
Negative unexpected:

prototype 11:
In this prototype, the compression stockings were used in a different way. Here you need to put the envelop on just like you would do with a sock.
There is a whole made so that there is no irritation in the popliteal. This is stitched around so that there is no fluff coming loose from the sock.

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: the hole leaves enough place for the knee
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected:
Negative unexpected: by stitching the border of the hole it becomes less flexible and less stretchable

prototype 10:
This prototype is based on 9 with the difference that the elastic straps are replaced by compression socks.

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: these are also easy to tighten
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: the socks fluff off
Negative unexpected: difficult to estimate the length of the socks

prototype 9

prototype 9:
Different envelops were made, each one has different straps, so that the straps can be tested with different fillings. Each envelop is made by stitching two patches of fabric and a velcro closure.

This one is made with elastics with two different widths: 20mm and 30mm

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: stays on the leg
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: too wide
Negative unexpected: the top elastic keeps going into the popliteal

 prototype 8:
By combining prototype 5 and 8 , we get a layered material that has a hard shell and a soft inlay.

Elements of experience:
Positive expected:softer

prototype 6

 prototype 6:
We made a hard shell from the inside of prototype 1, we did this by impregnating fabric with polyester. by using a thicker fabric , we hope to achieve a softer backside.

Elements of experience:
Positive expected:hard outside shell
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: fabric inside is harder then expected
Negative unexpected:when the leg isn't bend, the shell is pushing against the leg.

This is an other benchmark we got from Feline. These are knee protectors used in the vollyball. These ones where the first she used this summer but because it wasn't hard enough she went on to prototype 0.

Elements of experience:
Positive expected: can be worn under pants, isn't big
Positive unexpected:
Negative expected: isn't thick enough to rule out the feeling of the underground
Negative unexpected:
